360 Degree Adventure Chateau De Chantilly Castle, France
Back in the day where Versailles was at its peak, Chantilly Castle was a second favorite destination for many. It not only boasted a beautiful castle with fine art, but horses were bred to their finest here and put on show for bidding in what is now the horse museum. It had horse races with some of the finest horses where bets ran high, a theater, and a beautiful town right next door eager to please any nobles. The castle was one of those sad cases where the last owner had no heir and he was executed by Napoleon Bonaparte, so he gave it to his grand nephew (wouldn't that be a surprise) and the son of King Louis-Phillippe (the prince that is written about in Scarlet Pimpernel as being saved.) It was later donated to France. When you walk through the gate, this is the first view you get of the castle and as you keep walking the view changes quickly to be the view below.

360 Trail on the Back side of the Chantilly Castle by the Pond or Reflecting Pool.
I enjoyed walking around the castle, for each side was unique and different from the other side. Castle is surrounded by a moot and on the back side their are statues and fountains next to the moot.
East side has statues that represent the story of the love of Acis and the sea-nymph Galatea. Alpheus was a passionate hunter above who fell in love with a nymph Arethusa. She morphed herself into a well and Alpheus became a river.

This really was an amazing Tour of France. I loved our focus of exploring a quaint town near each different country border so we felt like we experienced multiple countries yet never left France and didn't drive as far. It was brilliant. If you want to see all the places we traveled, just use the search magnifying glass at the top right and type in France to see more of this fun vacation.
